My favorite sport is golf and I will track to you about golf. My golf idol is Charlie woods, he is 14 years old and is really good. Charlie woods is most famous for being Tiger woods son. Here is a picture of Charlie woods and Tiger Woods.

My favorite golf to watch is LIV golf which is the less formal golf than the PGA, there it music and its just more fun. I hope I can be in LIV golf one day. I play at the Hope Valley Country Club and my favorite hole is 14, it is a par 3 and is really fun. One time I almost got a hole in 1, I was 2 inches away. I got a birdie. A birdie is one under par. The best you can get is an albatross which is 3 under par then there is an eagle ( I have got one eagle) which is 2 under par and a birdie which is 1 under par. Over par there is a bogie, double bogie, and triple bogie. I got an eagle on a par 5 which means I got a 3, I drove the ball 275 yards and then hit a 110 yard shot right next to the hole for an easy put. I hope you guys start playing golf.

My LA class made books about a perfect world. Peg Gignoux helped use a lot. She is a great artist, here is a link too see her art. https://gignouxart.com/.To make the plants on the book we put ink called Akua ink on a gel pad and then put a plant on top and a piece of paper, then we rolled it so the ink got on the paper and made a plant painting. Then we did some folding to make the book open and close like a book. Then we cut a hole in the middle so there is a cave looking thing. Then we glued all of are plant paintings. Here is my book.

I will talk about fingerprints. Fingerprints are formed in 10-15 weeks in the womb.There are three different types of fingerprints, loops, whorls and arches. Loops are the most common fingerprint type and can point towards the thumb or the pinkie. Whorls are the second most common type of fingerprints and they have spiral or circular patterns. Arches are the least common type of fingerprints and they have a wavy pattern. Fingerprints are scientifically known as ‘dermatoglyph’, meaning sculpted skin. Everyone has their own unique fingerprint, just like snowflakes! Even identical twins have different fingerprints. Koala Bears even have them too! He are my fingerprints.

Chamber Theatre is an acting company. They came to my school to perform the Monkey’s Paw and The Necklace. They were amazing actors. The sound effects came on at the perfect time. The Monkey’s Paw is a about a magical monkey paw that gives you three wishes but each wish comes with a consequence. Here is a picture.

 

The Necklace is about someone who went to a dance but they needed jewelry so they asked there wealthy friend and she gave her a necklace. The necklace was shiny and had diamonds. She went to the dance and had a blast then when she was walking she had no necklace on so they looked for it and did not find it. What do you think happened next.

My LA class at my school is playing a stock market game, we are playing it because we are reading The Westing Game and someone named Sam Westing gets murdered by someone and the game is to figure out who killed him. There are pairs of two and they get clues. One group thinks the clues mean a type of stock. The group is Turtle Wexler and Flora Baumbach, Turtle is the one who invested in the stock market. I invested in Home Depot, General Motors, Dick’s Sporting Goods , and Boeing. I thought they would do good but currently I am down $200. I made a spreadsheet with the help of my teacher. This is what it looks like below.

Colonel Virts came to Durham Academy to present and it was awesome. He was a U.S air force fighter pilot and an astronaut at NASA. When he was up in space he saw so many cool things. He had a room in the spacecraft that was basically all windows so he could take lots of pictures. He took over 300,000 PICTURES! In space you still have to work out and get some energy out so they had a treadmill that was on the wall, you had to strap in to stay on the treadmill otherwise you would float. Colonel Virts also wrote books here is one of them below. Hope you become an astrnaut like Colonel Virts.

Finalmente, en Durham hay jardínes museos, universidades, restaurantes, y estadios. Durham está llena de personas. En mi opinión Durham es una ciudad muy moderna, grande, bonita, y agradable.

At Durham Academy in 6th grade science we had a project to make a heat shield.

The heat shield had to withstand 2000 degrees Celsius for three minutes. At the other side of the heat shield there was an egg and if you cook the egg the heat shield did  not work. Everyone got 100 credits.before anyone made there final design we could do test with a heat gun that got up to 400 degrees Celsius. The tests were only one minute long. My group used up 95 credits and this was our prototype.

We chose this prototype because we thought the aluminum would radiate the heat away. The aluminum was not good in the real test because the heat was to hot it burned through the aluminum foil. We chose the sponge because in the testing it was great. The sponge in the real test was not good it burned right after the aluminum. We chose the metal lathe because we thought it would absorb the heat. The metal lathe was great in the real test it did not let much heat go through.

The blow torch made a hole in the heat shield but our egg was still RAW.

My parter’s were Michaela and Layla.

My school had a field trip to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences on 1/27/23. The museum is in Raleigh North Carolina.

First we went on a 35 minute bus ride from Durham Academy and the drivers were amazing. The museum had 4 floors. On the first floor there were cool artifacts like old plants and there was a big ship in the back. On the second floor there were fish and gems. The gems were so big and beautiful. On the second floor there were also snakes,  turtles , and a bridge . On the third floor there were 3-D printed objects that could move and it was so COOL. There were also snakes, asteroids, and a bridge. The fourth floor had the race exhibit. I  learned  that race is made up by people and has no science behind it. I wish the race exhibit was more interactive because it was a little boring. There was also a butterfly cage but is was sadly closed when we came. My favorite part was when the fish got fed and they 3-D printed objects. I would come back to the museum sometime to see the fish and 3-D printed object’s. I hope you decide to go there someday.

I will be talking about Crohn’s disease.

Crohn’s disease is a common disease that I have and around 780,000 people have in the United States. Crohn’s disease is a inflammatory bowel disease known as (IBD). Crohn’s causes inflammation in your digestive track. It leads to abdominal pain, diarrhea, and weight loss.

When I got diagnosed my stomach hurt but then I got on a medication, and suddenly I felt like a brand new boy. I was finally able to play with my friends and have sleep overs. My medication worked great. Now I am a six grade boy living my best life, I play soccer, basketball, golf, and football.
